One of the best ways to prepare for labor and birth is to practice relaxation every day. You can learn how to train your body to relax on demand. Getting control over the breath is another great way to stimulate the relaxation response in your body. By mastering relaxation you can dramatically reduce your perception of pain in labor. Some of my students have even said that their labor didn’t hurt. It was hard work but they didn’t associate pain with suffering.
